Adam shows promise in Algarve

AFTER a lukewarm start to the season, Adam Norrodin showed some early promise in the second round of the FIM CEV Series in Algarve on Saturday.

The 22-year-old managed a solid top-five effort in both the first (FP1) and second (FP2) sessions at Autodromo Algarve which bodes well for his qualifying hopes in the Moto2 European Championship category.

The Liqui Moly Intact SIC Junior Team rider clocked one minute and 47.510s (+1.260s) in FP1 and 1:47.589s (+1.476s) in FP2.

Alessandro Zaccone (Promoracing) and Yari Montella (Team Ciatti-Speed Up) topped the FP1 and FP2 time sheets.

Adam hopes to make his pace count in qualifying.

"I feel like this practice went better than the one in Estoril. We prepared really well and I am more confident with the bike now," said Adam.

"We were top-five in both sessions but I still need to work hard (to improve) nevertheless.

"I can say that the potential to be in the front group is higher. I will try to also be in the top-five on the (starting) grid."

Adam finished ninth and eighth in Race One and Two at the opening round in Estoril last week.

In the Moto3 junior world championship class, Syarifuddin Azman settled for 17th in both FP1 and FP2 after clocking 1:51.272s (+1.657s) and 1:51.339s (+1.139s) respectively.

In the European Talent Cup class, Sharul Ezwan Sharil (Liqui Moly Intact SIC Junior Team) was well off the pace placing 32nd and 30th in FP1 and FP2 after clocking 1:57.824s (+4.334s) and 1:57.064s (+3.578s).

Sharul, who is riding at Algarve for the first time, had suffered a crash in FP1.
