Excitement builds for KL2017 with launch of video, phone app, YouTube channel

The launch was officiated by Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

The KL2017 video aims to inject the spirit of sportsmanship with the message "It takes a nation to raise a champion".

Produced by MASOC, the video is directed by Quek Shio Chuan, a young director who has produced impressive work, ranging from corporate advertisements to music videos for local celebrities.

"The official video brings a message of strong sporting spirit, solidarity, togetherness and struggle. It also tells a story of a journey that demands sacrifice and support from various parties to produce a champion," said Khairy, who hopes for the video to serve as an inspiration for Malaysians and young athletes to continue to strive tirelessly before savouring the sweet taste of victory.

The KL2017 video can be viewed through its digital platforms, including the KL2017 phone application which is available for both iOS and android.

The video is also on the official YouTube channel 'Kuala Lumpur 2017 Official Channel' powered by TM. This platform will host 15 channels, with two being live for selected sports, while the rest for video on demand.

Also present at the event were Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) deputy president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria, Sea Games Chef de Mission (CDM) Datuk Marina Chin and MASOC chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong.
