Preparations on track for Sea Games, some venues open for training

KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the coming Sea Games 2017 are on track with its facilities and venues ready to be utilised next month.

Malaysian Organising Committee (MASOC) chief executive officer Datuk Zolkples Embong said preparations are within the timeline with some of the venues already opened for local athletes to conduct their training session.

“It (preparation) is going smoothly and will be ready on time for the Sea Games.

“We have prepared some of the venues in advance for our athletes to get used to the facilities.

“The advantage of being the host is that the local athletes can use the facilities for training,” he said.

Zolkples said ticket sales for sporting events – netball, swimming and diving – have sold out.

He also said that public are rushing to buy tickets to the opening and closing ceremony of the games.

“Tickets are selling like 'hot cakes'. The public should purchase the tickets earlier before they are sold out.” he added.
