The best way to go to the Sea Games opening ceremony

WITH over 85,000 people expected, the public has been asked to come early and use public transport to attend the opening ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games at the National Stadium tomorrow.

This is to facilitate security checks prior to entering the venue while the roads around the Bukit Jalil Sports City area will also be closed to the public on the day.

Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the stadium’s entrances will be opened as early as 4pm with pre-event programmes to begin at 6pm.

Those who come early can take part in the carnival activities which will be organised within the stadium complex with food trucks also being made available.

"The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has taken the initiative to extend the service hours of the LRT and bus service from seven locations," said Khairy.

"There will also be a discount of 50 per cent for Sea Games (venues) destinations. This is to encourage the use of public transport".

Khairy said all train networks will be offering a total of 18,000 car parking lots for the public's convenience.

"For those who wish to use their own transport, there will be 3,500 parking spaces available at the Selangor Turf Club which will be open from 3pm. A shuttle bus service to the stadium will be available there.

"We are expecting a packed stadium as the tickets for the opening ceremony have been sold out."

Khairy also urged the public to cooperate with the authorities to ensure everything goes smoothly on the day.
