(Moto) Hafizh Syahrin finishes third at Misano

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Raceline Malaysia’s Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah added points to his overall standings, when finished third in the Moto2 race at the San Marino Grand

Prix.

The 23-year-old finished +7.875s behind Thomas Luthi, who collected his first win in three years, with a time of 51:39.709s to take the chequered flag at the

Misano World Circuit.

Dominique Aegerter made one-two for the Swiss by coming in second (+1.400s), in the crash-filled which took place in wet and slippery conditions.

Hafizh, who is a FIM CEV Repsol European Moto2 Championship winner, was second in the third free practice yesterday, just +0.163s behind current world standings leader, Italian Franco Morbidelli.

The last time Hafizh stood on the podium was back in 2012 in front of the home crowd at the Malaysian Grand Prix when he raced in the Moto2 category for Petronas Raceline Malaysia.

Hafizh is currently 10th on the World Standings after gaining a much needed 16-points in from today’s third place finish, for a total of 66-points. He is 20 points-short of Italian Simone Corsi and 157-points behind leader Morbidelli.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Moto3 representative Adam Norrodin only managed to complete 18-laps before crashing out in a time of 10:24.689s.

Adam was one of the 15 riders who suffered in the crash-filled race alongside Estrella’s Aron Canet who was out after only three-laps.

The 19-year-old’s Japanese teammate Ayumu Sasaki only managed to complete 10 laps in the race that saw Italian Romano Fenati take the chequerd flag, in

a time of 46:24.290s.

Fenati finished 28.594s ahead of world standings leader Spaniard Joan Mir whoc came in second and Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio who finished third.
