KUALA LUMPUR: Armed Forces coach Azizan Mustafa believes the pressure is on defending champions Pahang in tomorrow’s TNB-Women's Razak Cup semi-final at KLHA Stadium in Pantai.
"We are playing in this tournament without several senior players.
"Most were unable to get leave while others are undergoing military training," said Azizan.
"We did not set any target and now that we are in the semi-finals, I have told my players that the pressure is on Pahang to win
"Pahang are, no doubt, the favourites and we are the underdogs. We will just enjoy the match."
Pahang, under coach Benedict Arrais, have been dominant as they have seven current national players and a host of up-and-coming youngsters being groomed for next year's Malaysia Games
"Our objective is to win the title once again but to get there we need to clear two hurdles – the first against Forces in the semi-finals.
"This team have been playing well in almost all the matches but we can’t be overconfident and let our guard down,” said Arrais, a former national player who plans to quit after 22 years on the job.
He cautioned his players not to take it easy against Forces.
Selangor take on Kuala Lumpur in the other semi-final.
Selangor coach Ikmal Abdul Jabar said: "KL have their strengths and weaknesses."
"They can transform into a dangerous side on a good day if given room to move.
"We, too, are equally motivated to reach the final and I’m anticipating an exciting match,” said Badrul.
