(Swimming) Jordan erases bad memories of Sea Games with five titles in SUKIPT

BUKIT JALIL: Jordan Yip was disappointed when he was forced to withdraw from last year’s KL Sea Games due to food poisoning.

However, the swimmer made amends on Monday by ending his Malaysian Institutions of Higher Learning Games (SUKIPT) campaign with five gold medal (two individual and three relay disciplines) at the National Aquatics Centre.

Jordan is using SUKIPT to prepare for the Malaysia Games and the Malaysia Open Swimming Championships.

“I am happy with my performance in SUKIPT. I managed to record a personal best in my first outing in this games.

“I treated it as a platform to prepare myself for bigger challenges.

On Monday, Jordan, representing Taylor’s University, broke the games record in the 200m individual medley and the 4x100m freestyle relay.

The national swimmer clocked 2:07.60 seconds to erase the old record of 2:32.49 in the 200m individual medley.

Universiti Malaya’s Tern Jian Han (2:12.07) and Ian James (2:13.99s) took silver and bronze, respectively.
