Pandelela fails to win another medal

KUALA LUMPUR – National diver Pandelela Rinong Pamg failed to raise her medal tally in the final leg of the 2018 Fina Diving World Series in Kazan, Russia, when she finished last in the women’s 10m platform finals, yesterday.

The 25-year-old only managed to collect a total of 318.65 points in five dives in the finals held at Kazan Aquatics Palace, according to International Swimming Federation (Fina) website, www.fina.org.

The Sarawakian had bagged bronze in the women’s 10m platform synchronised event with Cheong Jun Hoong on Friday.

China again showed their dominance by winning the gold medal through Rio Olympics gold medalist Ren Qian, who accumulated 389.10 points, while silver and bronze medals were won by North Korea’s Kim Mi-rae (362.35 points) and Melissa Wu (351.80 points) of Australia respectively.

Meanwhile, Jun Hoong failed to advance to the final round when she finished in fifth place among six divers in semifinals with 296.10 points.
