Hockey: Malaysia to bid for the 2022 men and women's World Cups

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) have confirmed that they will put in their bids to host the 2022 Men and Women’s World Cups.

MHC president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said it has been endorsed by the confederation’s executive committee.

The 53-year-old also disclosed that they will also bid for the 2019 Men’s World Series Final, a qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and also the 2021 Women’s Series Final, a qualifier for the 2022 World Cup.

All bids will be submitted next week to the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

“We are likely to host the Men’s World Series in 2019. However, there are other bids for the World Cups and the Women’s Series Final.

“FIH will decide on them,” said Subahan on Saturday.

Subahan added that Malaysia is a complete package as it has all the facilities to host world class competitions.
