Pacquiao ready for KL battle

KUALA LUMPUR: Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao declared that he is ready and feeling good for Sunday’s WBA welterweight title fight against Lucas Matthysse.

The eight-division boxing champion arrived here late on Monday where he was greeted by a large group of Philippine media at Le Meridien hotel.

“I feel good. I had a great camp (at Gen. Santos City). I would like to thank my MP Promotions team for doing a good job,” he told ESPN.com on Monday.

The 40-year-old Pacquiao will fight Argentina's Matthysse for the WBA "regular" welterweight belt at the Axiata Arena.

Pacquiao will be without Freddie Roach in his corner for the first time in 17 years during the bout. His friend Buboy Fernandez handled his training this time.

“Everything went along just fine. I got a tan because I have been training a lot outdoors in GenSan,” he added.

Pacquiao also thanked the Malaysian government for hosting the fight, the first major boxing event in the country in 43 years.

Several local and international personalities are expected to watch the fight on Sunday.
