Sree proving to be hot on ice

KUALA LUMPUR: Little Sree Abiraame B Chendren hopes to be a big ice skating star for Malaysia one day.

After winning four gold in this week’s Ice Skating Institute’s Skate Asia in Bangkok, the six-year-old aims to represent Malaysia in the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The emergence of the talented Sree is indeed heart warming to the Malaysian ice skating scene.

It is not easy for Malaysia to produce ice skaters to match countries with cold climates.

In winning four gold medals out of six events, Sree has proved that she can match the big guns from South Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan.

Sree said she hopes to compete in the Winter Olympics one day.

“I am excited to win four gold medals. Even though I was a bit nervous, I felt I could do better than the other skaters,” said Sree at KLIA on Friday on her return from Bangkok.

“I hope for more success in representing Malaysia. I will work hard to qualify for the Olympics,” she added.

In four days of competition, Sree came out first in four events (Stroking Delta, Light Entertainment Spot Delta, Speed Racing and Delta) while also settling for one silver (Char Spot Delta) and one bronze (Solo Delta).
