Police shoot down Wipers

KUALA LUMPUR: Police Blue Warriors again gunned down KL Wipers 4-0 in the second leg of the Women's Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) at Tun Razak Stadium yesterday.

Police had won 5-0 in the first leg but coach Zulkhairi Ariffin was not happy with their take-it-easy attitude yesterday.

Nuramirah Shakirah Zulkifli nailed a hat-trick in the 20th, 36th and 49th minutes while Siti Zulaikha Husain scored in the fourth in the 53rd.

Both are national players.

"My players probably had it at the back of their minds that they had beaten KL 5-0 earlier and so it is going to be another easy game. That is why they struggled to score the first goal, and then had to work harder for the other three," said Zulkhairi.

Police next play table toppers Terengganu Ladies, a match that could decide their MHL destiny.

"We lost to Terengganu 2-3 in Batu Buruk (Kuala Terengganu) and will be hosting them at the Tun Razak Saturday. We can't afford to miss any chances that come our way, because there is going to be only a handful, unlike what we had against KL.

"Terengganu scored in the dying minute to beat us earlier, and so we will have to plan properly for the next match as it decides where we will end this season.

"Police also have another tough match against Liaoning, and if we win both, we have a good chance of finishing top-two," said Zulkhairi.
