Petanque targets three golds for Philippines Sea Games

SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Petanque Federation (MPF) is targeting three gold medals at the Philippines SEA Games, according to the federation’s patron, Tengku Omar Alsaddam Tengku Shahreza.

He said the target was set following MPF’s achievement in winning two gold medals in the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games two years ago.

“Insha-Allah (God willing), we are confident that we can achieve the target,” he told Bernama after officiating the 2019 Malaysian Petanque Federation Cup tournament at the Petanque Arena, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Mohd Said Sports complex here earlier today (Saturday).

Also present were MPF president Datuk Ahmad Khairrullah and Malaysian Petanque celebrity icon Datuk Nassier Wahab.

In the last Sea Games held in Kuala Lumpur two years ago, the national petanque squad won two gold medals through Muhamad Hafizuddin Mat Daud in men’s singles and Saiful Bahri Musmin and Syed Akmal Fikri Syed Ali in men’s doubles.

The Philippines Sea Games, scheduled to be held from Nov 30-Dec 11, will feature four petanque events namely men’s and women’s doubles as well as men’s and women’s triple. Bernama
