Dhabitah clinch bronze in women's springboard

KUALA LUMPUR: Nur Dhabitah Sabri saved the blushes for the national diving team, comprising world and Olympic medallists, when she won the country’s first World Series medal of the season in the London leg on Sunday.

The 19-year-old garnered 344.40 points for the bronze in the women’s 3m springboard final, won by Australia’s Maddison Keeney (368.30).

Canada’s Jennifer Abel took third with 353.05 points in the final of the series.

Dhabitah is the first podium finisher in the event since the inception of the World Series in 2007.

However, the springboard event on Sunday did not feature world champions from China.

In last year’s World Series, Malaysia won medals in all four legs with Pandelela Rinong-Cheong Jun Hoong recording the country’s first-ever gold, achieved in the women’s 10m platform synchro in Montreal.
