OCM to set up crisis management committee

KUALA LUMPUR: A crisis management committee will be set up by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) to tackle problems arising in national sports associations (NSAs).

OCM president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria said the idea came about following the internal issues in the Malaysia Karate Federation (Makaf).

He said the proposal received thumbs up from Sports Ministry secretary general Dr Waitchalla R.R.V. Suppiah, National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail and National Sports Institute (NSI) chief executive officer Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli.

“We have discussed the matter and we have all agreed that the proposal should be implemented. (OCM secretary general) Datuk Nazif (Nazifuddin Najib) will be in contact with them. We (OCM) will set up the committee soon,” he told reporters after chairing the OCM executive board meeting here on Tuesday.

“’We don’t want problematic associations to see the OCM and later go to the ministerial level.

“To me, all of us as stakeholders should sit together and look into matters in a manner where everyone can make a decision together.” Bernama
