SINGAPORE: There are no plans to amend the racing and entertainment programme for the Formula 1 (F1) Singapore Grand Prix (GP) taking place from Sept 20 - 22, based on current Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) levels.
“The haze situation is highly changeable not only from day to day, but from hour to hour. Therefore, it is currently not possible to reliably predict what the PSI level might be over the race weekend,” Singapore GP stated in its website (www.singaporegp.sg) today.
“We will continue to work closely with all the relevant government authorities to receive the best possible forecasts when they are available,” it added.
The website also said a number of measures have been put in place like the PSI reading and relevant health advisory will be displayed on its website, official Singapore GP mobile app, the superscreens between races as well as broadcast through the in-circuit radio system.
“The government health advisory will also be posted at all Circuit Park entrances,” it said.
At 5pm today, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said PSI readings ranged between 99 and 113, with the highest recorded in the southern part of the island republic.
Air quality in Singapore first hit the “unhealthy” (24-hour PSI 101 to 200) level on Sept 18.
The nighttime Singapore GP is held annually at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Asia’s first F1 street circuit. -- Bernama
