Malaysia power into polo final

THE national polo squad are assured of at least a silver medal at the Philippines Sea Games after booking their spot in the final yesterday.

Malaysia, who are the defending champions, finished the round robin stage of the competition in second place of the four teams in the competition after downing Brunei 8-5 1/2 at the Inigo Zobel Polo Facility in Calatagan.

Philippines, who defeated Indonesia 6-4 1/2 yesterday, topped the table and will face Malaysia in the final on Sunday. Only four nations are competing in polo.

Malaysia lost to Philippines 8 1/2 - 5 in their second round robin match on Tuesday after beating Indonesia 11- 7 1/2 in their opening match on Sunday.
