RM5mil boost for LTdL's 25th anniversary

The Hors climb action to Genting Highlands in this year’s Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) is expected to be thrilling and exciting.

Dubbed as the tour’s queen stage, this year’s Genting stage is from Putrajaya Corporation to Resorts World Genting on Feb 10.

LTdL received a boost yesterday when Genting Malaysia Berhad was unveiled as the main sponsor of the race at the Sports Ministry in Putrajaya.

Those who attended the ceremony were Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Human Voyage chief operating officer Shahaizereen A Hamid and Genting Malaysia corporate relations and communications vice-president Datuk Seri Kay Atisha Parasuraman.

The total sponsorship is RM5 million, including in-kind benefits.

Like in previous editions, the 156.1km Stage Four race from Putrajaya to the summit of Genting will likely indicate the overall champion.

Last year, Team Sapura Cycling’s Benjamin Dyball won the stage and went on to be crowned the overall winner.

Genting Malaysia is also the main sponsor for the Malaysian International criterium race in Kota Kinabalu on Feb 6.

Syed Saddiq thanked Genting Malaysia for its continuous commitment to LTdL.

“Resorts World Genting’s return as one of the tour venues last season had raised the reputation of the race.

“We can expect a more intense and colourful reception from the crowd and audience this year,” said the minister.

Shahaizereen also expressed his gratitude to Genting Malaysia by saying the partnership between LTdL and Genting Malaysia will benefit both parties in terms of attracting spectators and audience.

“In conjunction with LTdL’s 25th-anniversary celebration this year, Human Voyage has lined up various promotional activities and some of them are specially designed for spectators in Genting,” said Shahaizereen.
