Sprinter Harrif Saleh, who sparkled in the recent Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), has downplayed talks of him leaving the Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG).
When asked if he had any ambitions to join a bigger team, Harrif, who won two stages in LTdL, made clear where his priorities lie.
“In terms of the future, I will just follow whatever plans the TSG team have,” said the 31-year-old Kuala Terengganu-born rider.
“I have been with TSG for a long time. It’s my ninth year with them now, and I have settled in very well here.
“I have grown together with the team over the years. I do not have any intention to move (to other teams).
“In terms of age, it is also a little bit too late for me, so I am happy to stay with TSG.”
TSG are a “continental team” which means they are in the third division of the three-tier UCI road cycling competition.
ProTeams, formerly known as pro continental, compete in the second tier while WorldTeams, formerly known as world tour teams, are in the top tier.
Harrif, who earned more stage wins than any other Asian riders, has racked up 18 stage wins in UCI-sanctioned tours in his career apart from winning three Sea Games gold medals.
