BJSS Thunderbolts capture MJHL Division One title

KUALA LUMPUR: Two field goals from Muhammad Danish Aqasha Khairul Azli in the first two quarters ensured BJSS Thunderbolts beat SSTMI Thunderbolts 3-0 for the Division One title of the Malaysia Junior Hockey League (MJHL) on Wednesday.

BJSS Thunderbolts clinched the title with a game in hand. They take on SSTMI Juniors tomorrow after collecting an unassailable 12 points from five matches as title rivals SSTMI Thunderbolts could garner only 10 points after completing the group stage of six matches.

Danish bagged his brace in the 15th and 22nd minutes before Muhammad Amirul Kharuddin sealed the win with his penalty corner strike in the 37th minute at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts beat SSTMI Juniors 3-1 to place third in the seven-team tournament with eight points.

The AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts and SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ clash on Saturday will be the decider for the runners-up spot.

BJSS Thunderbolts, SSTMI Thunderbolts, AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts, SMKDBL-PHJ- MSNJ, MPBJ Tigers, Anderson Thunderbolts and the Division Two champions and runners-up will advance to the MHJL Cup quarter-finals which will start on Dec 27.
