Siti Safiyah-Natasha clinch Inter-State women's doubles crown by 155 pins

KUALA LUMPUR: You can't keep Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman and Natasha Roslan down for long.

Just a day after their disappointing women's singles campaign, the Selangor duo tore the field apart with their blistering display to bag the doubles crown at the Inter-State Championships at Sunway Mega Lanes in Bandar Sunway today.

Siti Safiyah-Natasha took control of the top spot after the second game and went on to compile a combined total of 2,415 pinfalls for a convincing 155-pin triumph over Negri Sembilan's Nur' Ain Mustaffa-Syazana Aqilah Luqman.

Sarawak's Nerosha Keligit-Nur Amylda Natasha Jemat Zaidil posted a 2,243 total for the bronze.

For Siti Safiyah and Natasha, it was a great response after they failed to secure podium in the singles by finishing fifth and 10th, respectively.

Selangor also won the girls' singles event on Monday through Nur Diyana Jallaludin.

Penang and Sabah also clinched a gold each through Megat Zaqrul and Hariz Adlan and sisters, Nurul Alyssa and Nurul Ayunni Junaidi in the boys and girls' doubles events.

Megat continued his red hot form to claim his second gold in as many days when he and Hariz chalked up 2,362 pinfalls to finish 32 pins ahead of Kuala Lumpur's Haikal Hazlan-Muhammad Hazim Ali Hanafiah.

Sarawak's Tsen Fan Yew-Abang Afiq Yazid Abang Azman came in third on 2,319.

The girls' doubles saw a thrilling finish where Alyssa-Ayunni knocked down a 2,254 total to pip Sarawak's Dayang Yumi Azreen Abang Azman-Lavinia Kho to the gold by one pin.

It was Sabah's first gold of the campaign.

Nur Aina Kamalia Abdul Ayub-Nur Hazirah Ramli made it two Sarawak pairs in the top three following their 2,229 effort.

Penang lead the standings going into the final day with three gold medals, one more than Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
