Speedy Tigers aim to bash Bangladesh

MALAYSIA have met Bangladesh three times since 2014, and the record is all in favour of Arul Selvaraj's men.

At the 2014 Asian Games, Malaysia won 5-1, followed by a 3-0 triumph at the World League in Dhaka and a 7-0 thrashing of Bangladesh in the 2018 Asian Games.

However, Bangladesh, coached by Malaysian K. Gobinathan, have a title to show this year. They won the AHF Cup in Jakarta in March and finished second in the Asian Games qualifying tournament in Bangkok earlier this month.

Ranked 30th in the world, the Speedy Tigers aim for a convincing win against Bangladesh in Group B of the Asia Cup in Jakarta starting tomorrow.

"We have lots of information on Bangladesh after watching (their videos) in the AHF Cup as well as the Asian Games qualifier," said coach Arul.

"My players have done their homework on Bangladesh and they came out with a plan to collect full points.

"We have a target of standing on the podium in Jakarta, and I believe my players will not disappoint in Group B," added Arul.

The other teams in Malaysia's group are Oman and South Korea. Group A has India, Pakistan, Japan and Indonesia.
