KUALA LUMPUR: The national women's table tennis squad reached the Commonwealth Games team final after a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Wales in the semi-finals at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on Sunday.
Malaysia will face favourites Singapore in the final. Singapore, led by China-born world No 16 Feng Tianwei, outplayed Australia 3-0 in the other semi-final.
Doubles pair of Ho Ying and Karen Lyne Dick started the ball rolling with a 11-7, 11-5, 11-5 win over Wales' Anna Hursey-Anna Thomas.
But Wales won the next two matches to take a 2-1 lead.
Charlotte Carey was stretched to the limit by Alice Chang Li Sian before prevailing 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 7-11, 11-7.
Hursey handed Wales a 2-1 lead when she defeated Karen 11-6, 11-9, 11-13, 11-9.
Alice, however, was in top form to beat Thomas 11-3, 13-11, 11-5 to level the tie.
Ho Ying rose to the occasion by delivering the winning point in her 7-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-7, 11-8 win over Carey.
Lee Wei praised her players for their fighting spirit in the semi-finals.
"The final against Singapore will be tough, but my players will be ready for it," said Lee Wei.
