Malaysia set to win Asiad gold today in sailing [NSTTV]

HANGZHOU: After two quiet days, the Malaysian contingent at the Asian Games started to pick up pace.

Yesterday, Malaysia won two silver through Tan Cheong Min (wushu) and the men's eSports team (Arena of Valor) and four bronze through track cycling and sailing.

Today, Malaysia are expected to win a few more medals, but fans are asking when is the gold medal coming and from which sport?

Hopes are high on sailor Nur Shazrin Latif to deliver a gold when she competes in the women's single handed dinghy ILCA 6. After 11 races, the Malaysian is placed first, and will only need to stay in the top five in the medal race, and avoid making any mistakes that could see her disqualified.

In track cycling, Malaysia's chances of winning gold have gone down following the withdrawal of former world champion Azizulhasni Awang days before departure for Hangzhou following a crash in training.

Nonetheless, Malaysia still have an outside chance to get a couple of medals in cycling, especially from women's keirin.

Today, Malaysia are also expected to assure themselves of a medal in the men's sepak takraw team regu event. The team will play Laos in the semi-finals, and are slated to face world champions Thai land in the final.
