Shereen cruises into 400m final in Hangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR: Debutante Shereen Samson Vallabouy won heat three in 52.89s today to qualify for the women's Asian Games 400m final at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Stadium.

The United States-based Shereen, who has a personal best of 51.80, clocked the fifth-fastest time in the heats.

It was an easy win for Shereen, who led after 200 metres of the race.

Hoang Thi Minh Hanh of Vietnam clocked 53.49 to finish second in the heat.

Adekoya Oluwakemi Mujidat of Bahrain clocked the fastest time of 50.53 in the heats, followed by defending champion Salma Eid Naser of Bahrain (52.52) and Sri Lanka's Nadeesha Ramanayaka (52.67).

The final is scheduled for tomorrow.
