Azeem anchors Malaysia to 4×100m final in Hangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian sprinter Azeem Fahmi anchored his men's 4x100m team to the final of the Hangzhou Asian Games today.

The quartet of Khairul Hafiz Jantan, Arsyad Saat, Russel Alexander Nasir Taib and Azeem posted 39.40s to finish third in heat one.

The final is scheduled tomorrow.

Based on their performance, the quartet definitely have a chance of breaking the national record of 39.09.

China won the heat in 38.62, followed by South Korea (38.75).

Japan won heat two in 38.99 while Indonesia (39.56) and Singapore (39.70) were second and third, respectively.
