Asian Para Games: Paddler Chaoming off to winning start

KUALA LUMPUR: With the games making way for the opening ceremony, only the paddlers saw action at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games today.

Chee Chaoming got his campaign in the table tennis men's singles TT9 (single limb impairment) category off to a bright start after downing Philippines Linadr Sultan 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8 in their group D encounter.

Chaoming, who won the singles bronze in 2018, will next face China's Fan Yufei tomorrow.

Brady Chin, who is in group B, lost his opening game to China's Zhao Yi Qing 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-3. Brady will play Japan's Abe Hayuma tomorrow.

In the men's singles TT11 (intellectual impairment) Jennahtul Fahmi Ahmad Jennah lost his opening group A match to Taiwan's Chen Po Yen 11-4, 11-5, 11-9.

Fahmi will play Hong Kong's Tsoi Ming Fai on Tuesday.

All major sports including athletics, badminton, swimming and powerlifting will begin tomorrow.
