Mag Rebels claim Dota 2 MEC crown

PUCHONG: Mag Rebels emerged champions of the Dota 2 Grand Final competition at the Malaysia Esports Championships 2023/2024 at ESI Hub, Spacerubix here today.

Mag Rebels, represented by Nicholas Lim, Ng Wei Poong, Kam Boon Seng, Gan Hou Sing and Roger Tan, downed a spirited Mag Empire 3-1 in the deciding match.

Empire were represented by Chan Kok Khin, Denise Danial Abdullah, Ho Wei Loon, Loyd Yoong Binjie and Cheong Zhi Ying.

Rebels leader Nicholas, better known by his nickname Zeal, lauded his teammates for making it count when it mattered.

"It was very close right up until the fourth game," said Nicholas, who was also named most valuable player.

"It really could have gone either way. I am really happy we did it. We just played how we normally did in practice.

"A lot of credit has to go to my teammates, they are all very experienced players."

Rebels pocketed a cool RM30,000 for their win while Empire took home RM15,000 for their efforts.

Third placed Mango+4 received RM10,000 while fourth placed Sentry Symphony Esports claimed RM7,500.
