'Malaysia House' to make Malaysian athletes feel at home at Paris Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's athletes at the Paris Olympics are set to get "additional support" with the forming of team Malaysia House.

Road To Gold (RTG) committee member Datuk Lee Chong Wei said that Malaysia House is set up to give extra support to Malaysian athletes as the services at the Games Village in Paris are limited.

"I went to four Olympics between 2004 and 2016. Food was a problem for me in Athens (2004) and in Rio de Janeiro (2016)," said Chong Wei after a RTG committee meeting at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil today.

"It is important for the athletes to prepare well, eat well and sleep well.

"Getting access to extra food that we are familiar with will definitely be a big help to the athletes who are fighting hard for the country overseas.

"We also have physio services on hand. In short, Malaysia House is for the athletes to feel at home," said the three-time Olympic silver medallist.

Five Malaysian athletes: diver Bertrand Rhodict, sailor Nur Shazrin Latif, recurve archer Ariana Nur Dania Zairi, road cyclist Nur Aisyah Mohd Zubir and shooter Johnathan Wong have qualified for the Paris Olympics so far.
