The National Sports Council (NSC) has reinstated a para swimming coach who had been facing various allegations, including sexual misconduct, towards her swimmers.

In a statement released today, the NSC announced that the police investigation into the case had concluded with a 'No Further Action' classification, as there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations made by the swimmers.

The coach, who hails from China, was accused of sexual misconduct, verbal and physical abuse, as well as extortion of her athletes.

"NSC, via the Misconduct and Protection in Sports Committee (MPSC), conducted a thorough investigation, which involved interviewing various parties related to the matter.

"As a result of this investigation, NSC, following the recommendation from MPSC, finds that there is no basis or witness to support the allegations of misconduct.

"Therefore, the NSC has decided to reinstate the coach's responsibility of training the national swimmers, especially as they are currently preparing for the Paris Paralympics from Aug 28-Sept 8.

"NSC continuously strives to ensure a safe environment for all parties involved in training programmes under the council and has never taken lightly any complaints of misconduct."

The NSC also assured that they have a thorough and transparent mechanism to address complaints, prioritising the privacy and protection of all parties involved.

Last month, the Malaysia Paralympic Council (MPC) was informed of the issue via an email believed to be collectively written by swimmers under the guidance of an adult.

In response, MPC president Datuk Seri Megat D Shahriman Zaharudin promptly filed a police report.
