BANGKOK: Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will make his maiden official visit to Laos on October 30 (Monday) to further strengthen bilateral ties and bolster cooperation.

"The official visit aims to further strengthen the bilateral relations and close cooperation as well as emphasise the Strategic Partnership for Growth and Sustainable Development between Thailand and Laos," Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke said in a statement.

Srettha will have a bilateral meeting with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone during the visit, said Chai.

"The prime ministers will preside over the opening ceremony of the Vientiane Train Station (Khamsavath). The train station is a cooperation project between the two governments through the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA)," he said.

Srettha will also pay a courtesy call on Lao President and general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Dr Thongloun Sisoulith and President of the National Assembly of Laos, Xaysompone Phomvihan. – Bernama
