Survey reveals world's most dangerous city is…

MEXICO CITY: Los Cabos in Mexico’s Baja California is the most dangerous city in the world, a report presented on Wednesday here by a civil organisation revealed.

In fact, the study – Ranking of the 50 Most Violent Cities in the World 2017 by the Citizen Council for Public and Criminal Security – reports that 12 Mexican cities are among the 50 most violent on earth.

The organisation’s president, Jose Antonio Ortega, said that Acapulco, Tijuana, La Paz, Ciudad Victoria, Culiacan, Juarez, Chihuahua, Obregon, Tepic, Reynosa and Mazatlan are on the list.

According to figures in the report, Los Cabos experiences 111.33 murders per 100,000 inhabitants.

Of the 50 cities, 17 are located in Brazil, 12 are in Mexico, five are in Venezuela, four are in the United States, three are in Colombia, three are in South Africa and two are in Honduras.

El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and Jamaica each have one city in the survey.

“The Mexican cities (have a very high homicide rate. Juarez’s rate reached) almost 300 per 100,000 in 2010,' the report highlighted.
