SINGAPORE: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today condemned the senseless acts of violence in Sri Lanka which killed more than 160 people, including foreigners.
“I offer our deepest condolences to the victims and their families,” he wrote on his Facebook.
A series of explosions rocked several locations namely Kochikade Church, Katuwapitiya Church, Shangri-La Hotel, Cinnamon Grand Hotel and St Barnabas church in Batticaloa in Colombo at 8.30 am local time.
“We stand firmly behind Sri Lanka in its efforts to preserve the hard-wrought peace and stability. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Sri Lanka. May they find strength and unity to overcome this adversity together,” Lee wrote further.
According to a news report, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe condemned the attacks as “cowardly“, as the government imposed an immediate and indefinite curfew across the entire country of 21 million people.
In a statement, Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that thus far there are no reports of Singaporean casualties in the incidents. – Bernama
