Jho Low's former superyacht now in Mediterranean; available for hire for RM5 million a week

A £100 MILLION (RM527 million) superyacht seized from a disgraced party-loving financier is set to become this summer's ultimate Mediterranean party venue as it has been put up for rent.

The 300-ft vessel boasts rooms for 22 guests including a master suite and three VIP state rooms, a spa, a beauty salon, a cinema, a gym, a deck-pool, an outdoor bar, its own helipad and is serviced by a 29-strong crew.

Renamed Tranquility (from Equanimity), the ship was once the prize asset of fugitive banker Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low – but it was snatched from him and sold this year to recoup some of the £3 billion he is accused of embezzling from the Malaysian government.

Now the ultimate-luxury yacht is available for hire for a cool £1 million (RM5.27 million) per week.

The 2013-built boat will happily sail around the Mediterranean this summer, putting into port on the romantic Amalfi Coast, Cannes, St Tropez, the islands of Corsica and Sardinia, as well as other locations along the French and Italian Rivieras.

“She was officially put up for rent this morning,” Katia Damborsky, of Yacht Charter Fleet, told MailOnline.

“There have been no takers yet, but it's expected she will be popular among large groups because of her unique capacity to host 22 people on board.

“She is on her way to the Med now and we will expect to see a lot of her in Italy and the south of France.”

With a journey range of 5,000 nautical miles and a maximum speed of 20 knots, the Tranquility can cruise around the Mediterranean while guests enjoy the height of luxury. The interior is designed by Winch Design and the exterior styling is by Oceanco.

“Tranquility's impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her the ideal charter for socialising and entertaining with family and friends,' Damborsky added.

“Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature through to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.”

Low laying low

At the height of his wealth, multi-millionaire Low – dubbed the 'Asian Great Gatsby' for his love of lavish parties – rubbed shoulders with Hollywood A-listers including Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Low, who was born into a wealthy Malaysian family and educated at Harrow School public school in London, is estimated to have spent £50 million on entertainment in one year.

His 28th birthday in Las Vegas lasted several days with reports that celebrities were paid £50,000 each to attend one of his parties.

In 2010 he is reported to have splashed out £1.8 million for a 'bottle parade' in St Tropez, south of France, when bikini-clad models brought champagne to his guests.

He gave former Victoria's Secrets model Miranda Kerr a £2.2 million diamond pendant and actor Leonardo DiCaprio a £2.5 million Picasso painting.

But he fell afoul of the law in 2016 and became the subject of an Interpol international arrest warrant for his part in the 1MDB financial scandal in which former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak was accused of syphoning off at least £3 billion of state funds.

Low was charged with money laundering but he fled to China, where he is believed to still be in hiding.

Low had originally bought the 300-ft super-yacht, named Equanimity, for an estimated £200 million.

But the Malaysian government sold it at the knock-down price of £100 million to the Gentling casino group earlier this month, due to the £3 million a year up-keep.-Daily Mail
