KUALA LUMPUR: Her name was Lil BUB, and she stole our hearts with her imperfections.
Lil BUB came into the world in June 2011 and died on Sunday peacefully in her sleep. The sad news was announced to the little feline’s over 2.4 million followers via her Instagram account @iamlilbub.
“On the morning of Sunday, December 1st 2019 we lost the purest, kindest and most magical living force on our planet. BUB was cheerful and full of love laying in our bed with us Saturday night, but unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep…,” posted her ‘hooman’ Mike Bridavsky, accompanied by a side-by-side photos of him holding BUB for the first time and last time together.
And fans immediately flooded the post with condolences.
BUB was discovered as the runt of a healthy feral litter in a tool shed in rural Indiana at only a few weeks old in 2011. According to her website lilbub.com, BUB was born with a multitude of genetic anomalies. She had extreme dwarfism and remained kitten size and kitten-like features her entire life.
“Dearest BUB, I will never forget your generosity, your limitless supply of love, or your uncanny ability to bring so much magic and joy to the world. I am forever honored and humbled that you chose me as your caretaker. Please visit all of us in our dreams,” Bridavsky concluded.
On May 14, another Internet sensation feline Grumpy Cat passed away from complications due to a urinary tract infection.
Known as Grumpy because of the frown on her face (which we think is actually an upside down smile), the feline achieved stardom several years ago, leading to various endorsement contracts and merchandising.
