Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts Sumbawa, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck south of Sumbawa Island in Indonesia, early today.

According to a statement issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the 6.31am quake was centred at about 356 kilometres south of Bima, Indonesia, at a depth of 23km.

However, the tremblor does not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said. - Bernama
