Singapore coronavirus cases rise to 16

SINGAPORE: Singapore announced three new cases of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) late yesterday, bringing the tally of infections in the republic to 16.

It said the three cases comprise two Chinese nationals and a Singaporean woman who was evacuated from Wuhan in China’s Hubei province on Jan 30, Bernama reported.

Singapore’s Ministry of Health said that the 47-year-old was found to have a fever while being medically screened upon arrival at the Changi airport. She was immediately conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

“She tested positive for the coronavirus on Jan 31, and is currently warded in an isolation room at the NCID,” the ministry said.

It added that all three cases have recent travel history to Wuhan.
