JAKARTA: The number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia surpassed 42,000 after 1,331 new cases were reported within 24 hours.
Indonesian government spokesman on Covid-19 matters, Achmad Yurianto, added that another 63 deaths were recorded, bringing the tally of fatalities to 2,339.
"There are currently 42,762 positive cases, while 17,923 patients are still under surveillance for Covid-19," he said in his daily press conference broadcast via the National Disaster Management Agency's (BNPB) official YouTube channel.
East Java recorded the highest death toll of 664, followed by the provinces of Jakarta (578), West Java (171) and South Kalimantan (150). - Bernama
