Beijing, WHO discuss rising respiratory infections in China

ISTANBUL: China on Friday said it held a virtual meeting with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to discuss the recent spike in respiratory infectious diseases.

The country's National Health Commission said the rising infections are caused by known infectious agents, Anadolu Agency (AA) quoted the Beijing-based daily Global Times.

Children's hospitals in the capital Beijing and northern Liaoning are overwhelmed with "undetermined" pneumonia-like cases believed to have originated from bacterial infections.
