Around 90 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on Jabalia refugee camp

KUALA LUMPUR: Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on Sunday resulted in the death of around 90 Palestinians.

According to Reuters, Gaza's health ministry spokesman confirmed the casualties, but there was no immediate response from Israel.

Additionally, a missile attack on a house owned by the Shehab family killed 24 people, as reported by Hamas Aqsa radio.

Among the deceased was the son of Dawoud Shehab, a spokesman for Hamas-ally Islamic Jihad.

Numerous individuals were reported killed or injured in the Shehab family home and nearby structures.

"The number of casualties beneath the rubble is believed to be substantial, but due to the intense Israeli fire, there is no feasible way to clear the debris and rescue them.

"Civil defence workers and residents were still digging through the rubble in a desperate effort to find more survivors," he said.

In Deir al-Balah, located in central Gaza, medical personnel indicated that 12 Palestinians lost their lives, with dozens sustaining injuries.

Meanwhile, in Rafah in the southern region, an Israeli airstrike targeting a house resulted in at least four fatalities.

People rushed to the building to rescue those trapped under the rubble. The sound of the explosion was "as powerful as an earthquake", Mahmoud Jarbou, who lives nearby, told Reuters.

Israel said it had operated against fighters' targets.
