MOSCOW: Armenia early Thursday officially became a full member of the International Criminal Court (ICC), as the ratification of the Rome Statute establishing the body entered into force on Feb 1.
According to the ICC, Armenia became the 124th state party to join the Rome Statute, and the 19th state from the Eastern European group to do so, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
Last October, the Armenian parliament adopted the law on the Rome Statute ratification, thus recognising the ICC jurisdiction.
In November, the necessary documents were transferred to the ICC administration.
In his letter to the court, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan pledged that "the Republic of Armenia commits to cooperate with the Court fully and without delay." — Bernama
