OIC sec-gen calls to end Israeli deadly aggression on Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR: The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, underscored the plight of Muslims in conflict zones globally, with a particular focus on the Palestinians in Gaza who are enduring brutal aggressions by Israeli forces.

In his Eid message, Taha said "his heart is overwhelmed by Palestinians languishing under unprecedented brutal aggression of the Israeli occupation forces who did not give the people a space to pray or even observe the Ramadan fast in peace".

He further remarked that instead, the forces had escalated their violence and destruction, leading to the starvation of millions of people in the enclave.

He prayed to Allah to alleviate this suffering, bring an end to the crisis and aggression, and safeguard the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to a statement on the OIC website.

Taha also reiterated his solidarity with Rohingya refugees and other Muslims in various parts of the world, including the Sahel region, Lake Chad Basin, Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir, and other crisis zones globally, whose Eid celebrations have been marred by their challenging conditions.

He expressed hope for an end to the war in Sudan.

Furthermore, the OIC chief called for the cessation of all forms of hatred, violence, extremism, and terrorism.

He expressed hope that the occasion would provide an opportunity for self-reflection and the continuation of concerted collective efforts to overcome the challenges facing the entire Islamic Ummah. -- BERNAMA
