PN urges govt to prioritise economic issues

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has urged the government to prioritise the country's economic issues and address the people's problems.

Its secretary general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the matter was agreed upon after the PN Supreme Council meeting last night which was chaired by PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and attended by Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau and other Supreme Council members.

"The focus of the discussions was the current pressing cost of living situation, including the issue of water tariff increases. There was an unanimous agreement urging the Federal Government to prioritise economic issues and address the people's problems," said Hamzah in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

He said PN also reaffirmed its commitment to enhace its empowerment agenda and the coalition will organise a PN National Elected Representatives Convention and the PN Empowerment Retreat in the near future.

"In the meeting, a consensus was reached to appoint Alor Setar member of Parliament Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden as the new PN Youth Chief effective Jan 20.

"PN expresses its utmost gratitude and appreciation to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari for his contributions and dedicated service during his tenure as the PN Youth Chief from Jan 26, 2022 to Jan 19, 2024," said Hamzah.
