KUALA LUMPUR: Even before the new M-League season could kick off, the same old sad story is making its rounds again. Players crying foul over unpaid salaries.
Kedah players alleged that they have not been paid for four months and that the club's officials are ignoring their plight.
Kedah FC majority shareholder Tan Sri Dr Daud Bakar admitted that the club has been facing cash flow problem since last October. But he assured that plans are in motion to pay the players.
A Kedah player, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he has been getting calls from the bank to settle his loan.
He claimed that the Kedah management is keeping mum and not responding to their queries.
"We (players) are getting calls from the bank... we have not received our wages. We are now forced to dip into our savings," said the player.
Meanwhile Kuala Lumpur player Nazirul Naim Che Hashim's wife, in a social media post, claimed that her husband has been neglected by the club as he recovers from knee surgery at a hospital.
"Stranded, no salary, the management didn't visit, washed hands just like that," posted his wife, Norwahila Ali Tarmizi, on Instagram.
It is learnt that Kedah and KL City owe their players up to four months of wages since last September.
KL City chief executive officer Stanley Bernard said they are working on settling the arrears.
"We want to settle the 2023 first... there are several issues and we are solving them," he said in a statement.
"We are planning, we are setting appointments with the players and talking to them."
The 2024-2025 M-League season is scheduled to kick off on May 10-12, but will the clubs continue to play the old sad story?
