KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens were horrified by an incident caught on camera, where a motorcyclist snatched another rider's bag, causing the victim to fall onto the middle of the road with oncoming traffic.
In a 16-second video uploaded on X, the dashcam recording showed the culprit riding near the victim, who was in the left lane, before snatching her bag.
This caused the victim to lose control of her motorcycle, leading to her falling and rolling into the middle lane.
"The witness of the incident shared the dashcam video. This thief is cunning. (He) snatched my little sister (and) concealed his plate number with plastic.
"The (snatched) bag contains an iPhone 14, cash, wallet, identification card, and bank card. Hands and legs are wounded," according to the video caption.
It was believed that the incident occurred near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Zarina, Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Klang.
The New Straits Times has contacted Selangor Police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan and the Klang police station for confirmation on the case, but is still awaiting their responses.
Meanwhile, netizens advise motorcyclists to exercise caution when carrying sling bags as this incident could involve the life of an innocent.
"Riders out there, men or women, please wear a jacket if you're carrying a sling bag. The jacket or sweater on the outside will enable you to hide your bags.
"Thief can aim for your bag even from afar. Just one snatch and it is gone," says user @Fatinmohamedr
"If it was my younger sibling (who got snatched), I will find him (culprit) and beat the living daylight out of him in front of his parents," says user @ariff9267
