Juniors pipped by Scotland, seniors held by France

THE national Under-21 hockey team were edged 1-0 by Scotland's Under-23 side in their final Tour of Britain friendly in Glasgow on Friday.

The juniors ended their tour with two wins, one draw and five defeats.

Coach Wallace Tan is happy with the progress of his trainees ahead of the Junior World Cup (JWC) on Nov 24-Dec 5 in India.

"My trainees showed some positives during the tour. However, they need to improve further in the coming weeks for the JWC," said Wallace.

Meanwhile, the senior team were held 1-1 by France in a non-ranking friendly match.

Marhan Jalil scored for the Speedy Tigers in the 56th minute, four minutes after France had taken the lead.

Malaysia will play France, who are preparing for the World Cup qualifiers, in their final friendly tomorrow.
