Golok river breaches danger mark amidst ongoing floods

KOTA BARU: On the third day of flooding in the state, the Golok River in Rantau Panjang breached its danger mark this morning.

As of 9:30 am, the river was measured at 9.10m, 0.10m above its danger mark of 9m. Other main rivers in Kelantan, meanwhile, were recorded below their normal and alert marks.

The overall flood situation has slightly improved today compared to yesterday, as less rain hit the state since yesterday evening.

The number of victims at flood relief centres also remained the same as last night.

As of 7:30 am, a total of 373 flood victims from 96 families were still taking shelter at six relief centres. Of them, 189 were evacuated at SK Dalam Rhu, SK Sungai Petai (64), SMK Beris Panchor (46), SK Wakaf Raja (30), Dewan Kompleks Kamil (29), and SK Jelawat (15).

Yesterday, one relief centre in Pasir Puteh was closed after the flood situation in the area improved. So far, only three districts in Kelantan were affected by the flood - Pasir Puteh, Bachok, and Pasir Mas.
