Weathered teachers' association signpost

IPOH: The signboard at the entrance gate of the Teachers’ Activities Centre (PKG) Dato’ Panglima Kinta, Jalan Tun Perak, Ipoh is in bad shape.

“The signboard looks like it was torched and scratched by irresponsible people,” said a passers-by who wished to be known as Jay.

The word “PKG” on the signboard is also faded, which could confuse those wishing to to go to the centre.

“I hope the respective authority will replace the signboard in appreciation of teachers and their services as Teachers’ Day is drawing nearer,” added the 30-year-old.

ACTIONLINE : A Teachers’ Activities Centre (PKG) Dato' Panglima Kinta representative said the signboard was damaged due to prolonged weather exposure.

“This has caused the structure to look like it was torched and it has cracked.

However, the representative added: “We do not have the funds to replace it.”

A state Education Department spokesman said it would apply for funds from the Educational Technology Division of the Education Ministry to replace the signboard.
