Irked by flat rate for KLIA parking

A USER of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) staff parking bay has complained about the exorbitant monthly parking fees for staff and airport tenants.

The complainant said the fees were increased from RM60 (for staff with basic salary of below RM1,500) and RM120 (for staff with basic salary of more than RM1,500) to a flat rate of RM160 currently.

A spokesman for Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said the issue had been explained in a letter to staff working at KLIA.

He said the fee increase was to ensure a good experience for members of the public who were using KLIA.

He said with the yearly increase of passenger numbers at the airport, parking spaces had grown scarce.

“As such, we are encouraging staff to park at the Long Term Car Park (LTCP) at the rate of RM45 a month.

“This move will free up the parking space at KLIA, thus providing more convenience to the public.”

The spokesman said a continuous free shuttle service between LTCP and both airport terminals  was provided at five-minute intervals during peak hours and every 10 minutes during non-peak hours for the convenience of the staff.
