Wall dividing neighbours

A RESIDENT has, again, called on the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to resolve a dispute with his neighbour over the construction of a wall.

Journalist WILLIAM DENNIS raised the issue with Actionline on April 12, that his neighbour had erected a wall without adhering to the guidelines set by MPSJ.

However, he said, there were no signs that his neighbour would tear down the wall and repair the damage on his side of the house when the wall was built.

“My wife and I have tried to get a confirmation from MPSJ on when it will demolish the wall, but our efforts have been futile.

WILLIAM said he had lived in SS18/1, Subang Jaya, for nearly 30 years and that he had no qualms about his neighbour wanting to build a wall if the guidelines were followed.

“I am a journalist working for a New York-based publication and need to travel. I have taken almost two months of unpaid leave not knowing when this problem is going to be solved.

“My family’s lives and my job have been affected by this long-drawn problem,” he said.

An MPSJ spokesman said a notice would be issued soon to the neighbour to demolish the wall.

“MPSJ has been monitoring the issue following the resident’s complaint.

“The council will issue the notice in the near future and knock down the wall if the party fails to comply within 30 days of the notification.

“A follow-up visit to the area on May 25 revealed that the neighbour had yet to adhere to MPSJ’s notice.”

The spokesman said a compound was also issued to the neighbour when she failed to adhere to a building notice that was served on her on Jan 27.
